7th September 2019 i arranged a lovely evening where 45 of our members (1 Bell boat full of plums missing from picture) where once again we went to Fladbury for another lovely evening on the water but this time in bell boats. Firstly heading upstream so far before turning around and heading downstream, through the lock, into the weir pool and then carrying on under jubilee bridge and into Cropthorne. On the way back there was a little race to see who had mastered the waters but i’d call it a draw! If you would like to see a video of our evening that i made then please click HERE.
15th August 2019 saw 24 of our members take to the River Avon in Fladbury where i arranged for some of our members to have a go at SUP and Canoeing. The weather was beautiful which made for a lovely time. Most plums stayed dry apart from a few “shakey” legs and some who decided to jump in ! Having arranged this the past 2 years with the amount of people wanting to do it, i will be arranging it again next year. If you would like to view a short video of our fun evening that i made, please click HERE.
Well what a morning that was ! Glorious sunshine was overhead as some of us arrived early to set up the Plum gazebo, a few flags and give final instructions to Marshals. We had over 80 Plum volunteers (some missed the picture)! who covered nearly all Parkrun roles including a great number of cheering marshals around the course which i later found had contributed to a new Worcester Woods volunteering record with a total of 110 people doing their bit to make the morning one to remember. Bells, rattles and clapping could be heard from miles away thanks to the great support on course where some runners later describing it as a “race atmosphere” Pacers were available every minute from 21 – 36 minutes which people took advantage of and bagged PB’s. I have made a little video of the morning so please click HERE and take a look, you may even spot yourself !
Parkrun is a volunteered ran event and only made possible by those who put themselves out and make it happen for the rest of us week in week out. If you haven’t done so already, please please put yourself down to volunteer at you local Parkrun and give something back, so many people just turn up each week to run/jog/walk and don’t think about others giving up their time so you are able to enjoy it. It really is lovely being on the other side of the fence so to speak and it helps the event runs smoothly. There is a variety of roles to be filled so contact your local Parkrun and get involved.
This Saturday 14th September @ Worcester Woods Parkrun, the Pershore Plum Plodders will be hosting a takeover. Filling all volunteer roles and pacers from 21 – 36 mins for you to chase. There will also be a big number of cheering Plum Marshals around the course to help support and encourage you along the way so please come along and join in what is always a lovely morning. We will have our gazebo up so after, please pop along and see us if your looking for any info on joining our super friendly and supportive club. #UTP
On the 1st of August, the Pershore Plum Plodders will have a box located at the EVESHAM branch after being selected to be part of the Waitrose and Partners Community matters scheme which runs throughout the entire month of August.
At the end of your shop in branch, you will receive a token (as shown in the picture above) to put in the box of the good cause you would most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the amount of the £1000 it receives.
The Pershore Plum Plodders will be using any money that has very kindly donated for the training and development of our new and existing members.
Please let family and friends know about this great scheme and to pop a token in our box after doing their shopping !
Saturday 27th July saw two more of our C25K participants complete the 9 week programme by joining us at Worcester Woods Parkrun. It was a slightly damp morning with rain showers but this didn’t dampen the spirits of these two determined lades who put all their hard work in to practice and did themselves proud. Suzanne Price lead the course, which started on the 13th May, with help from various club members who were on hand to support and encourage participants each week. Steadily building up their stamina, distance and confidence in a safe manner helped them achieve their goal which we were delighted to see. Each lady received a medal for completing the C25K and also enjoyed a nice warm cuppa at the end !
Brilliant achievement from both ladies and many congratulations. We will look forward to seeing you join in with our usual Plod nights.
If you, or anyone you know of, are thinking about taking up running, maybe you’re getting back into it after time away or you are just looking for a friendly club to join, then why not come along to one of our Monday night sessions where someone will be on hand to start you off on your running journey with us ? This year we have grown our sponsorship programme even more. Without the kindness of these companies either as a direct sponsor or a donation we wouldn’t be able to keep developing the event and ensure we donate to the local charities as much as we do. Massive thank you to them all for their kindness and support.
NEW FOR 2019 –
This year we have changed our 10K water station cups to “OXO Biodegradable” plastic meeting BS 8472:2011 standards. These cups are sourced within the EU with a low carbon footprint and if for any reason they are not recycled correctly, they will degrade 100% organically without any plastic residue on landfill or water within 2 years or can be safely incinerated.
